The Royal Society of Canada has endorsed the declaration issued as a result of the meeting of National Science Academies and the Ministers of Science of the G8 in London, England.
The declaration, which results from the meeting of June 12, includes policy directions in four issues: Global Challenges; Global Research Infrastructure; Open Data; and Open Access. The RSC was represented at the meeting by President-Elect Dr. Graham Bell.
Since 2005, National Science Academies have convened on an annual basis to draft statements related to thematic priorities identified by the host nation. 2013 was the first year since 2008 in which Science Ministers attended alongside Science Academy Presidents.
