The Royal Society of Canada and Western University will co-sponsor a one day symposium on the topic of “Twenty-First Century Feminism and the Academy.” This symposium is part of the Taboo Topic Forums initiative and will take place on October 19, 2013 at Western University.

The symposium is being organized by the Department of Women's Studies and Feminist Research at Western University. The event will feature the following four speakers whose work in some way takes on the challenges of incorporating feminist issues and diversity in contemporary universities: Carla Fehr, Wolfe Chair in Science and Technology Studies, University of Waterloo, Frances Henry, Professor Emerita, York University, Joanne St. Lewis, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa, and Scott Morgensen, Associate Professor, Gender Studies, Queen's University.

The forum will conclude with a roundtable discussion among all four speakers and an engaging question and answer period.

The presentations will be broadcast as podcasts that will run in real time and allow for questions not only from the floor but also from anywhere in the world. The podcasts will then be linked to the Western WSFR and RSC websites.
